The Taste of Asia collection: Indonesia
The Indonesian kitchen is known for its healthy and incredibly flavorful cuisine. The use of a wide variety of fresh spices is a hallmark of this cuisine. Each of the over 3500 islands in Indonesia has its own signature dishes that are passed down through generations, from grandmothers to mothers to daughters.
Our chef has a deep connection to the Indonesian kitchen, having learned the foundational techniques from his grandmother in Lombok, Indonesia. She would prepare extraordinary dishes for their "Sunday family meetings", inspiring our chef to pursue a culinary career. He honed his skills by mastering the art of cooking Daging Rendang (Beef Rendang) from a local chef with Minangkabau roots in West Sumatra.
